About our Home Boarding

I have owned pets all my life and am passionate about all animals. I have owned dogs for 25 years, until I lost my Old English Sheepdog 4 years ago. My first dog was a golden retriever. I then decided to begin looking after other people’s dogs as an alternative to owning one myself. My last dog never went into kennels, but I sometimes found it hard to get someone to look after her, so I realised that more home boarding was needed. I started home boarding in September 2018 and have been busy, with several different breeds of dogs staying for varying lengths of time. This is my main commitment now, so I am home much of the time. My husband, Steve is self employed, working from home, so is also around a lot of the time. Steve has owned dogs all his life and is passionate about them too. We hold a boarding licence from our local council ( 5 star rating) and I have completed a course in canine CPR and first aid. We are fully insured.

Accommodation:

We live in a three bedroom, semi-detached house, with a long back garden. We have a porch at the front of the house and two gates, one padlocked for security, at the side of the house.
Dogs have access to both rooms, kitchen and hall downstairs. They may also go/sleep on the landing if they choose, but we don’t allow dogs in bedrooms. They are allowed on the furniture if they choose.

Exercise:

We follow the dog’s owner’s guidance in relation to the dog’s routine, including walks. We plan to walk them twice daily, for about 45 minutes per walk, but are happy to do more or less, according to the dog’s needs. We usually walk dogs at the bottom of our road, on the grassed area, the beach, or around the lake/marina. We take guidance from the owner regarding on lead/off lead walking and if it is on lead, we may take them to a local park with a large enclosed area.

Health & Hygiene:

We require that dog’s vaccinations are up to date and we take a copy of the certificate. They must also be wormed and de-flead. We need details of the dog’s vet and can administer oral and injected medication. We clean our floors/throws/bowls and toys with required disinfectant.

Home Boarding Prices

We charge £30 per night for boarding. Other dogs in the same family are charged £15.
Drop off is after 1.00pm and pick up before 1.00pm. We can be flexible about timings, but will charge more for longer hours.
The cost is to be paid as, or before the dog is dropped off. We accept payment in cash or bank transfer.

We are very busy and now have limited availability before November 2023.

Other Services

I’m sorry, but we cannot offer dog day care, as it becomes too complicated for us alongside home boarding.
