We have lived in Norfolk in our present property for over 40 years and during that time we have owned up to five dogs at any one time from puppies to rescue. During this period we have often helped friends and family by looking after their dogs when they were on holiday or hospitalized. As our two present dogs have got older, we have decided to look after other people's rather than replace our own. We initially had horses for 35 years but have now converted the paddocks and fencing to dog proof meadows. I have completed an Animal Aiders first aid dog course have always been very interested in animal welfare having kept dogs, cats horses and sheep. We now only keep dogs.
All visiting dogs are accommodated in the house together with our three family dogs. We have a one acre garden, four acres of paddocks and two acres of wood that is all deer fenced to a high standard, as is the garden. All the gates off the property are locked for security. The dogs have access to the main five rooms downstairs that we live in and also a secure patio with a gate. These rooms can be subdivided if necessary with doors or pet gates should dogs prefer their own space. We have an Aga in the kitchen and a couple of wood burners which are always popular with the dogs especially after a damp walk. We also have CCTV covering the front entrance and courtyard.
All our dogs are well exercised and routinely have at least three walks a day round the fields and wood off lead. Some like a swim in the two ponds in the wood, others prefer to paddle or watch! Should any dog require lead walks for medical reasons or owner's preference, this would be catered for. Some dogs enjoy a chase with other dogs and some prefer to enjoy exploring and sniffing new scents independently. In general the walks are about thirty to forty minutes long depending on the weather. Our dogs rarely leave the property unless to go to the vets. They lead an active structured life here. You would be very welcome to come and visit us prior to booking to sample the outside facilities and see the living space indoors the dogs would inhabit. It goes without saying the dogs would have to be currently up to date with their vaccination, kennel cough and tick medication etc. before entering the premises.
Dogs are only accepted if they are fully vaccinated including kennel cough. They should be up to date with worming, tick and flea medication. We require to see the vaccination certificates prior the dog coming onto the property. All other medication for individual dogs will be administered with the owners agreement. Our vet practice is in Swaffham who we use, but we have two local vet practices in Dereham, three miles away, should there be an emergency. We have a VW Passat with a large boot and secure dog guard for such occasions. We only accept neutered males and bitches that are not in season. Dogs are only accepted if they are healthy on arrival. We must be made aware of any pre existing medical conditions. All dogs have to be of good nature as they are living in a social environment with other boarders. We do not take in dogs that bark persistently as we must respect our neighbours. We are fully licenced by Breckland Council and insured with Pet Plan.
We charge £25 per day for dog boarding, two dogs £45 per day. Day care is £20 per dog.
Prior to the dog's first stay, a trial 24 hours visit is required to confirm it will be happy in this environment and is able to mix with other dogs.
Should a dog turn aggressive or excessively barks during it's stay, the emergency contact will be asked to collect the dog asap, or boarding kennels will be arranged.
We offer dog day care.
Transport for an additional cost would be considered.
We've taken our two Labradors George & Tilly to stay with Simon & Joan several times now. They absolutely love it. It's their holiday time as they get to play with other dogs, have lots of fab walks/sniffs & a swim in the pond. They are always extremely well cared for & we go away on our holidays happy that they are in good hands.

Quite simply this is the best home from home any dog could want. Joan and Simon have loved dogs all their lives and are perfect surrogates when owners need a break. My dogs are as excited as coming home when they realise they are on their way to their second home with simon and Joan. Worth every penny

Wonderful place for our dog Daisy to stay, this was the 1st time we had left her, and we were worried how she would be, we went over to see Joan and Simon on 2 different occasions, taking Daisy to see how she was, and for Joan and Simon to meet Daisy, we did not need to worry everything was just great , We took Daisy to stay for a long weekend and she absolutely loved being there, lots of room to have a good run around and some playmates too, when we went to pick her up, she did not want to come home, in fact I'm sure she sulked all the next day🤣 We would recommend Honeysuckle Walk to everyone, the care and knowledge that Joan and Simon have is brilliant, and we received photos and updates each day, which reassured us, Highly recommend and I know we will see them again,
