I have always loved dogs and have had or been around them my entire life and 11 years ago decided to start my own home boarding business.
I was an RN and left the hospital setting in 2004 for a complete career change.....and having dogs of my own I started work in a kennel for 5/6 years. At that time I had an epileptic Springer who had seizures frequently and was able to take him to work with me. I then started my own Home from Home dog boarding business 11 years ago and have been a registered home boarder with Aberdeenshire Council for that time.
I have successfully completed courses with Ethology Institute Cambridge in Emergency First Response for animals also a Dogs and Children course. I have a Canine Communication Diploma. Also a Canine First Aid certificate.
My home which you can see in the photographs is a detached house at the end of a quiet street and have woods to the back and side. Dogs have access to the back garden which is completely secure and enclosed. Garden gates are kept locked at all times. It is mostly chuckies with an artificial grass area where dogs can play or "perform" if wished. Garden and grass area is power washed regularly. In the summer or nice weather they have free access to the garden from the kitchen and I put beds out if they like to lie outside on a warm sunny day.
Where your dog likes to sleep will be discussed, I'm happy to keep to their normal sleeping arrangements. I have a fairly extensive form for owner to fill out prior to their dogs stay where I can get as much information about your dog and will endeavour to follow your dogs normal routine throughout their stay.
Regular updates/photographs of your dog via WhatsApp, messenger, email etc while you are away can be arranged.
Having two Springer Spaniels walks are very frequent always 2 in winter and 3 in summer. I can walk your dogs as often and for as long as you would like. I appreciate not all dogs are used to long walks and will follow instruction from owner. Your dog will not be left on its own if it has shorter walks.
On walks they are kept on leads unless I have your permission to walk them off lead.
I walk well away from roads in the country side away from traffic and will have one of my dog tags attached to their collar.
Food is supplied by the owner. I can supply clean bedding and beds but owners are welcome to take their dogs own bed and a blanket/toy t-shirt that smells of home....especially for a first stay.
In an emergency or if your dog becomes ill I will make every effort to contact you or your nominated emergency contact. However your dogs best interests are paramount and I will take your dog to my own vet (unless yours is fairly local) for examination. Any treatment given will be at the discretion of the vet.
Up to date vaccination certificate must be produced or a photocopy for my records.
Dogs on medication are welcome.
I have experience with Epileptic dogs giving oral and rectal medication, Diabetic dogs requiring insulin, dogs that have TPLO surgery, elderly dogs and energetic youngsters. Giving medication orally and via injection.
My charge is £30 per night, I don't ask for a deposit and ask that cancellations are as early as possible and again I don't charge unless it is within a week of the booked dates then I will ask for a cancellation fee of £20 (dependant on reason) I accept BACS or cash payment when picking up your dog after their stay.
Sorry but not taking further bookings for 2024 as completely full but I am now taking bookings for 2025
Having a male dog who gets uneasy when I have intact dogs I can only take neutered male dogs.
