We have two resident rescue guinea pigs who are a big part of your family. I followed my lifelong dream of working solely with animals after the pandemic taught me that life is too short (although I have always been involved in animal rescue in some way or another for over 20 years). I have small animal qualifications, plenty of experience with my own and other animals and am fully insured. You are welcome to our home before deciding, as we know from personal experience, that finding someone to trust with your animals is paramount! I was extremely lucky to have met Jill, who runs the Porthcawl Piggie Hotel, as our girls have boarded there for their holidays. She has been a fantastic mentor and support in my business. I’m lucky to have learnt from the best!
I have an insulated and refurbished room that is cool in summer and warm in winter. They will be part of our family while they’re here!
All small animals have daily play/floor time with their environment changed regularly for stimulation. We ask that you help us to enjoy their time away by giving us as much information as possible on their behaviour and likes/dislikes, so we can truly give them a home from home experience! We have outdoor secure runs that are sheltered for regular fresh air.
Fresh veggies served daily with good quality Timothy hay. Clean bedding which is regularly spot checked, changed
and deep cleaned. You are welcome to provide your own dry food if they would prefer to be kept on a similar diet (I use selective pellets).
Single Guinea pig per day - £6.00
Two guinea pigs sharing per day - £8.50
Hamsters - £3 per day (with own cage).
Please speak with me regarding multiple guinea pigs from the same household. I have adaptable enclosures and can accommodate most needs.
Bath & nail clip - £7.00
Thank you Mel ! Our first time leaving our Bunny to go on holiday. Mel was fantastic & I don't think Blue was ready to come home! Thank you so much & see you soon x

So glad I found Mel at Barnyard in the bush, my guinea pig Fitz has stayed with her twice now & I wouldn't trust him with anyone else. Mel treats the animals as her own & I was so happy to know I was leaving him in the best hands while I was away. Mel gives great updates, nothing is too much & the set up is great, as my boy is on his own he's always set up next to her 2 for him to have a little flirt through the bars 😂 100% recommend, he couldn't be left in better hands.

I originally booked for my 2 guinea pigs (Bubble and Squeak) to stay with Melissa for the duration of my 2 week family holiday. Unfortunately, Squeak unexpectedly passed away 6 weeks before the planned stay. When I informed Melissa of Squeak's passing she was unbelievably kind and supportive. She eased my concerns regarding Bubble now living on his own and advised me on how to make the next few weeks as easy/comfortable as possible for him. When the time came, I took Bubble for his solo stay at Barnyard in the Bush and upon arrival Melissa had already planned for him to be in runs/cages next to other solo guineas, so that they could keep each other company. Melissa first started him in a quieter room to see how he would cope with the other guinea noises etc so soon after losing his cage mate. He then moved into the main guinea pig room when Melissa felt he was ready. Melissa sent me regular updates and photos while I was away, as she knew I was very worried about leaving him. Especially so soon after losing Squeak. When previously leaving Bubble and Squeak with friends or at boarding I always left knowing they would be fed, kept clean and looked after. However, when leaving Bubble with Melissa I knew he would be truly loved like he was her own and he absolutely was. Melissa gave him daily cuddles and knew all about his personality and little quirks by the time he left. I highly recommend Barnyard in the Bush and would give them 10 stars if it was possible! Thank you!!

I cannot recommend Mel at Barnyards in the Bush highly enough. Your animals will receive a home from home experience. When I collected Walter Bunny and saw the environment Mel had set up for him I felt like a) he'd had a better holiday than me and b) he looked happier with Mel than at home. Mel helped me out with a very last minute request to care for Walter when we were going away. Usually family members do it by calling in every day but unfortunately the day before we went away Walter had a sore eye (recurring problem with old age) and after a vet visit needed antibiotic drops 3 times a day. I needed someone who could keep a close watch over him and Mel jumped into action. She kept him cool in the hot weather with his own personal an which he loved (he now has his own at home as I could see how happy he was lying in the cool air). I would without a doubt send him to Mel for his next holiday and might even book him in if we are at home but have a busy weekend and haven't got time to give him. Thank you Mel, you are a saviour and Walter loves you!

We have three Guinea pig boars that needed boarding through the entire month of August 2023. Found Mel through a recommendation and went along to discuss arrangements. She was very enthusiastic and passionate about animals, and has pigs of her own. We were immediately put at ease and left our pets in her care. They were very well looked after, and we returned to find them in great condition after the extended stay. Would highly recommend Mel and her service and we will be delighted to have her look after our pets during our next holiday.

We were very impressed and happy with the care that Mel gave our guinea pig Pablo. From our first contact she was excellent, we were able to go around and meet Mel before hand, and she was extremely friendly and obviously loves looking after animals. The booking process was easy and we were very impressed that Pablo and his other guinea friends had plenty of exercise in the runs outside! She even sent us some pictures of him enjoying while we were away which the children loved!! We would highly recommend her and will certainly be using her again. Diolch Mel ðŸ‘

Mel has looked after "Sid" our Guinea pig for us twice now. We couldn't be happier. She provides top rate accommodation and care. I would highly recommend Barnyard in the bush. Sid will be a regular visitor whenever we go on holiday he will too 😊
